It is a professional thermometer for measuring the forehead temperature of the human body. It is non-contact with a high accuracy of measuring body temperature. It operates with 2xAAA batteries not included in the box for security purpose. For accurate results it should be used at a distance of 1-3cm from the centre of your forehead, though it can be used till 15cm measurement distance.
